Call us old cynics, but ‘the next big thing’ seems to be launched every week, whether it’s a game, or toy, or series. So when we heard about Cardfight Vanguard, we weren’t initially overwhelmed with excitement, but we’ve had several enquiries about it, so we might take a dip in the next couple of weeks and get a few boxes to see if the fuss is justified… The ‘Marketing spiel’ goes like the following, and hopefully it will have longer legs than all the other pretenders (Chaotic anyone?)….

Although Cardfight Vanguard!! is based on a trading card game anime series like Yu-Gi-Oh!, the gameplay is very different. Instead of casting spells, players use their monsters (units) to overcome their opponent, and these are arranged onto the playing space depending on rank. The game is very fun, and whilst it is easy to play at a beginner level it is has huge depth and has a steep learning curve. That means it’s perfect for beginner and advanced TCG players alike!’

The endless release of the ‘Next Big’ Playground craze knows no bounds, we’ve got Bungees, Bumpeez, Trash Packs, Moshi Monsters, and now the Old Master, Crazy Bones have released series 6 (series 7 if you include the England 2010 ones) – TheEdge!! With booster packs back down to 99p each (after the £1.99 fuzziness of series 5), each booster contains 3 Crazy Bones, and a checklist of the 60 figures in this set!! Love Is…. Half Term!
Wow, we must be getting really old, it doesn’t seem 2 mins since Christmas, and yet here we are Half Term, and Valentines Day upon us!!
We’ve had loads of new stuff in over the last couple of weeks, we mentioned the TCG stuff last time, but some new arrivals in the Pocket Money dept. like Trash Pack, and Bungees. New Bobble Heads, like Dr McCoy, and War Machine from Iron Man. And new Halo Mega Bloks Series 4 Figure Foil Packs, now we’re at a loss to explain why, out of the initial 4 boxes we received, we didn’t get one Cortana figure!! (this this the Ultra Rare from the set, but upto this series there would have been 1-2 Ultra Rare figures per box).
Anyway, if you’re on holiday this week, have a great time. Ohhh, and remember Tuesday, Love Is…. Ugly, like Icebat 🙂

Playing Your Cards Right…..
Nice Game, Nice Game….. It’s that time of year when the major trading card games release their next installments within a couple of weeks of each other! This week saw the latest Yu-Gi-Oh! Order of Chaos Boosters arrive (4 boxes down since Friday), the Dragons Collide Deck, and the boosters based on the Legendary Collection 2 set will be arriving over the next couple of weeks….. Magic the Gathering will be launching Dark Ascension (the 2nd set from the Innistrad line) around 3rd February…… And Pokemon fans will be catered for around the 8th, with the next installment, which re introduces EX monsters!!!

It’s A Kind Of Magic…
Well, Happy New Year!!! 2012, and with the last of the UK schools due back on the 9th, that’s it for another year. We love Christmas, don’t get us wrong, but sometimes it feels like such a fuss, and stress, and race, and then when it arrives, you can blink and miss it 🙂
Already have a couple of boxes of Magic the Gathering Core set boosters, liked them, and so some Innistrad boosters, and Event decks are due in next week, then we’ll start in earnest with the Magic when the new set launches in February (Dark Ascension)….
Other new arrivals include; Original Slinkys, Jumbo Soldier packs, and Moshi Monsters Figure Collectors Bags. We’re going to be a bit more selective on the ‘Playground Craze’ things this year, it seems to be that they’re launching ‘The Next Big Thing’ on a weekly basis, and these things usually have such a short shelf life even if they take off, it’s not really worth it for us, unless we really like the product…. So we’ll be mainly concentrating on the TCG’s, and Board Games, with a selection of Pocket Money goodies, and Anime items from our friends due East, and of course hopefully a few nice surprises too! 🙂

Ahhh, the final countdown, we’re getting all excited, and tingley…. The last date for UK Christmas orders is Monday the 19th, after that we’ll still be shipping, but you probably won’t receive your orders in time for the BIG day…

Christmas, it’s turning Ugly…!!
Yes, Christmas is in full swing, according to the media it’s murder on the high street! All we can say is, although overall it’s about the same as last year so far, this is our fourth Christmas selling Uglydolls, and we’ve been selling more in the last couple of weeks than any other November / December….

So, it looks like this Christmas Day is gonna be ‘Pretty Ugly’!! Just remember kiddies – Uglydolls are for life, not just for….. 🙂
